Beautiful Losers + Cupcakes!

Just a quick reminder:
The Beautiful Losers Documentary this Thursday, May 22nd @ The Mayan/ 7pm Sharp! We better see you all out to see this very anticipated documentary !

Here is a quick note Mike Cerda from The Filmlot sent me today, it was very awesome to know a little more about the documentary and how lucky we are to have them show it here in DENVER!

" One of the things that makes this Denver premiere so special is that the film has only played at two film festivals in the country (SXSW & Hot Docs) and a few select screenings in a couple of other states. And although they are going to have a limited theatrical release (starting in August in NY), they'll most likely only hit NY and LA. So this Thursday is the only chance most people will have to see this film in Denver! Plus the man who started it all, Aaron Rose, is going to be there too! So I'm really excited to share this film with creative Denverites!"

We will also be providing the after-party with our famous CUPCAKES so head on over to The Continental Club after the movie screening featuring DJ IDULL, our BFF!

DESCRIPTION

Community Art Event and Membership Drive
Thursday, May 8th 7:00 to 10pm

This annual membership drive is one of BMoCA's most popular community events. The walls of the museum are left blank so that members of the community can bring in ONE piece of artwork (painting and sculpture allowed, even performance pieces!) to be displayed during the hours of the party. This is the chance for anyone who considers themselves an artist to have their piece shown to the public for one night in a contemporary art museum. Groove to the killer beats of one of BMoCA's favorite DJ Brandon "DSRN" Carter, cupcakes by The Shoppe, beer by Avery Brewing Company and, of course, Izzie!

FREE to BMoCA members (YOU CAN SIGN UP AT THE EVENT TOO!)
$10.00 for the general public
Check our membership page for current membership rates.

For More Info: http://www.bmoca.org/

We will help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Denver City Town Company with what else??! 150 mini cupcakes from The Shoppe at The Denver Public Library! So we hope you can all come and help blow out the candles with us!

Wild Wilde West: April 26 – May 27. Oscar Wilde in Denver by Ed Adler.

Denver's Birthday Chuckwagon

Saturday, May 24, 10:30 a.m. - 12 noon
Central Library, Level B2 Conference Center

Help us blow out a lot of candles to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of Denver City Town Company (November 22, 1858). Okay, we're a few months off, but we’re gonna have a party anyway. Chef Joseph Abeyta will rustle up a ranch classic: Cowboy Beans with Spicy Sausage and Cornbread. Recipes and samples included. We'll top it all off with cupcakes provided by Emma Rose Bakery and The Shoppe. This event will wrap up just as country musician George Inai presents a set of his finest music.

For More Info Visit: http://denverlibrary.org/

The Shoppe is also donating cupcakes to the Cycle Jerks next video scavenger hunt on Saturday, May 24th.

Cycle Jerks is a non-profit operation, all money raised by Cycle Jerks will go towards purchasing film equipment and to our non-profit community bike shop, Battlesteed.
They are also a group of messengers and cyclists from Denver, CO. attempting to make a weekly video revolving around bikes.

Beautiful Losers: The Movie!

Josh + I were asked to help spread the love from Mike Cerda at The Filmlot for the screening of the long awaited documentary of Beautiful Losers which many creative's of all types having been anticipating for! Josh + I are huge fans of the book, so we are very excited to actually see it on the big screen. Also our BFF, DJ IDULL will be providing wonderful tunes for the after party!

HMMMMM..... maybe some cupcakes will make it to the after-party from The Shoppe .......(wink!wink!).

Here is a little blurb that Mike sent us about the documentary:

The film, by first-time director Aaron Rose, profiles some of the uber-talented artists (Shepard Fairey, Mike Mills, Harmony Korine, Margaret Kilgallen, Ed Templeton and more... ) who got their start at the influential Alleged Gallery in NY. Some of them are now considered to be leaders of the urban/street art movement which has exploded onto the art world recently. But the film is not just about the artists, it also goes into their thoughts/philosophies about being a creative person too. Some of these artists are putting on art shows all over the world and some have even made films: Mike Mills directed Thumbsucker and Does Your Soul Have a Cold and Harmony Korine wrote KIDS and directed GUMMO. It's a really inspirational film that leaves audiences with a urgent desire to create something! It's definitely a 'must see' for anyone who creates!

You can check out the trailer here: http://beautifullosers.com/

The event:
Thursday May 22nd, 7pm at the Mayan theater
Aaron Rose (the director and the founder of the Alleged Gallery) will also be there for the event and will answer questions after the film.
Then we'll all head over to The Continental Club for the after party featuring DJ IDULL!
